Umar Gul was stunning at times for Pakistan, picking up 3-30 while Mohammad Hafeez was miserly in his 10-over spell of 1-26.
Pakistan's Umar Akmal and Asad Shafiq anchored the innings and secured the win, despite a superb effort from Brett Lee that was the Aussie quick finish with 4-28 from eight overs.
The result dropped Australia to third in Group A while Pakistan finish top of the group.
