India may have been embarrassed in the second Test at Trent Bridge, but there was some consolation for the beleaguered team as dashing opener Virender Sehwag might get back into the fold for the third encounter.
Sehwag missed out from the the Indian squad for the first two Tests of the present 4-match series due to a shoulder injury but it is reported that he will be fit in time to play for India in the third.
The Indians play a two-day tour match against Northants starting this Friday before the third Test which begins in Birmingham next week.
India had to make do with Abhinav Mukund and Rahul Dravid as openers in the second Test after an elbow injury ruled out Sehwag's state-mate, Gautam Gambhir.
Sehwag's injury will definitely be a shot in the arm for the Indians who seek to pull out inspiration from somewhere and salvage some pride after being thumped in the 1st two Tests. It was in England that Sehwag scored his first century as an opener, at Trent Bridge in 2002, though he missed the 2007 tour.
Sehwag had decided to undergo shoulder surgery after playing the IPL in May and was ruled out for a couple of months including the tour of West Indies. When the selectors picked the squad, it came with a caveat that Sehwag be given an additional two weeks rest to allow him to rest his shoulder.
