N Srinivasan is the new BCCI president

Sep 19 2011:

N Srinivasan has taken over the reins of the BCCI from incumbent President Shashank Manohar at the Cricket Board's 82nd Annual General Meeting.

Srinivasan, who was elected as the secretary of BCCI under Manohar in September 2008 and earlier was the treasurer of the Board under Sharad Pawar, got anointed as the next chief of the cash-rich body at the 81st AGM last September.

The Chennai-based businessman, who is also the President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, would become the 30th President of BCCI and the second since the system of choosing the head one year in advance was introduced.

After taking over as the president of the BCCI, Srinivasan announced that the BCCI would form a special commitee to look into India's horrible series against England. The Indians failed to live upto their reputation as they No. 1 Test side in the world or as ODI World Champions as they returned home without a single win against the English side.

Srinivasan informed the media that Mohinder Amarnath, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid will be part of the committee. He also added that Amarnath has been chosen to replace Yaspal Sharma in the senior selection committee.

Meanhwile, Rajiv Shukla has been appointed as the new chief of IPL at the BCCI AGM after Chirayu Amin's decision to step down.
