Jesse Ryder hits 16 sixes in an innings equals FC record

Record-equaller: Jesse Ryder hit 16 sixes

New Zealand's hard hitting batsman, Jesse Ryder, made the most of the final day of the practise match against Australia 'A' at the Allan Border field smashing a quickfire 175 off just 137 balls which included 11 boundaries and 16 massive sixes.

Ryder equalled the FC record previously set by Andrew Symonds who had hit 16 for Gloucestershire against Glamorgan in 1995 and which was later matched by Graham Napier for Essex against Surrey this year.
"The boys were saying it's pretty close to a world record so it's disappointing to not break it," said the 27-year-old.

Ryder was eventually dismissed by Ed Cowan but not before dismantling the bowling attack on a smallish ground.

"You get that close to a milestone like that, you don't get many chances and it's quite disappointing," he said.

"But I'm pretty happy with the way I went today. I got a few out of the middle and scored a few runs, so I'm pretty happy with where I'm at."

This was the only practice game for New Zealand ahead of their two test series against Australia starting on Thursday, the 1st of December.
But Ryder was disappointed not to reach 200
