Delhi Daredevils unlikely to seek replacement for Ross Taylor

IPL 2012

The Delhi Daredevils team management is unlikely to seek a replacement for New Zealand captain Ross Taylor, who sustained a fracture in his left forearm from a Morne Morkel delivery during the third Test against South Africa in Wellington.

Taylor underwent a surgery on his left forearm yesterday and according to New Zealand Cricket's medical director Ian Murphy, he might take four weeks to start training again.

"We have got a full update on Ross Taylor's injury. His surgery has gone well and he is expected to be fit for training after four weeks. We are not exactly seeking any replacement for Taylor as of now. May be he will be available during the final stages of the tournament but we are prepared to wait," a senior Daredevils official informed after Tuesday's practice session.

Daredevils bought the New Zealand captain during the transfer window from Rajasthan Royals.

During the initial few matches, the Daredevils will be without the services of their three key players in vice-captain Mahela Jayawardena, smashing batsman David Warner and England batsman Kevin Pietersen.
