Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who underwent an ankle surgery earlier this month, has been ruled out of action for 6 months. The surgery, which he delayed for almost a year, rules him out of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League and the T20 World Cup that is scheduled in September.
The lanky fast bowler initially thought about delaying the surgery for another two months but decided against it as it would have ruled him out of the home series against England later this year. Ishant played through injury in India's disastrous tour of Australia, and didn't enjoy much success as he picked up only 5 wickets from 4 Tests.
Ishant's IPL franchise Deccan Chargers are expected to seek a replacement for the pacer.
